For its 50th edition, and for the first time in its history, Rétromobile is honoured to receive the high patronage of the French Ministry of Culture. This distinction confirms the major role played by the show in promoting a unique automotive heritage, a true cultural asset for France, recognised both nationally and internationally.

Rétromobile: five decades dedicated to preserving automotive heritage For five decades, Rétromobile has been committed to preserving this rolling heritage, a testament to an advanced industrial activity that made France one of the world’s greatest automobile-producing nations. This living legacy, steeped in history and emotion, is rooted in rare expertise — notably that of coachbuilders and restorers — now inscribed on France’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

The show also plays a key role in passing this passion on to younger generations by encouraging vocations and highlighting professions linked to conservation and restoration. In recent years, several emblematic initiatives have embodied this mission: ·

  • The creation in 2023 of a dedicated EPV zone (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant), showcasing the excellence of artisans and manufacturers who uphold exceptional heritage skills; ·

  • The celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Citroën DS, featuring the spectacular reconstruction of the DS Ballons in collaboration with the GARAC, allowing students to apply their expertise to an unprecedented heritage project; ·

  • The regular participation of national and international museums, exhibiting their treasures, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the transmission of automotive culture.
